Brand identity and design system
Bushfire Recovery Victoria (BRV) was established as a Victorian Government agency to coordinate recovery efforts following the 2019–20 bushfires. The organisation required a clear and consistent visual identity to support large-scale communication across government, communities and recovery partners.
I was brought in as the design lead at a time where the organisation had only a logo in place. From this starting point, I led the development of a full brand and visual communication system that could operate across a wide range of outputs and stakeholders.
This included establishing a scalable design framework across print and digital channels, supporting everything from community-facing materials through to internal communications and executive-level reporting.
The brand was designed to balance government alignment with a more human and accessible tone, reflecting the sensitivity of working with communities recovering from disaster. This required careful consideration of visual language, colour and layout to ensure communication was clear, empathetic and trustworthy.
Key elements of the work included:
Development of a complete brand identity and visual system from a single logo starting point
Creation of templates and design frameworks across publications, social media, email and internal communications
Design of major publications including grant guidelines, reports and community-facing materials
Development of campaign and social media assets to support engagement and awareness
Infographic design to communicate complex funding and recovery information clearly
Ongoing evolution of the brand to support organisational growth and changing communication needs
The system was designed to be flexible and scalable, allowing consistent application across multiple teams while maintaining a strong and recognisable identity.
Displayed work includes:
24-page grant guidelines publication
Community postcard for post-flood clean-up support
Navspace campaign assets
Social media tiles

Bushfire Recovery Victoria was later rebranded to Emergency Recovery Victoria in 2022.
Brand identity and sub-brand system design
The Rebuild Support Service was a collaborative initiative between Victorian Government and local councils established to support communities recovering from the 2019–20 bushfires. The program required a distinct but aligned identity within the broader Bushfire Recovery Victoria brand system.
I led the development of the visual identity and logo system for the initiative, creating a sub-brand that balanced alignment with government branding while establishing a clear and accessible identity for community use.
The design approach focused on clarity, trust and emotional resonance, reflecting the sensitivity of the recovery context. A key objective was to differentiate the service within a broader government framework while maintaining coherence with existing government communications.
A distinctive rose pink accent colour was introduced to create visual separation from core materials and support recognition across community-facing communications.
The colour direction aligns with contemporary design trends that have since become more widely adopted across branding systems.
The logo was informed by an artwork referencing the aftermath of the 2020 bushfires, depicting a structural frame of a home as a symbol of resilience and rebuilding. This concept was translated into a simplified mark that integrated the program name, reinforcing accessibility and trust in the service.
The identity system was applied across a range of communication materials including:
fact sheets
application forms
community flyers
maps and service information collateral
This ensured consistency across all touchpoints and supported clear communication between government, councils and community members.
Government annual report design and publication
This project involved the design and production of an annual report for Cenitex, the Victorian Government’s technology delivery partner supporting digital services across state government agencies.
As a freelance graphic designer, I was responsible for the layout and visual design of the report, translating complex operational and service information into a clear, structured and accessible publication suitable for government and stakeholder audiences.
The design focused on clarity, readability and consistency, ensuring alignment with government communication standards while improving the presentation of data, service outcomes and organisational performance.
Key aspects of the work included:
Annual report layout and publication design
Information hierarchy and data presentation
Application of government branding requirements
Preparation of print-ready files for production
Collaboration with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency
The final report supported Cenitex in communicating its role in delivering digital services across Victorian Government departments.
Communications, fundraising and campaign design
This selection of work was produced for the University of Melbourne across multiple internal and external communications teams, including Advancement, Student Information and Alumni Engagement.
The work spans philanthropic fundraising campaigns, internal communications, event design and student engagement materials, supporting one of Australia’s largest university environments with complex stakeholder and audience needs.
A key focus across these projects was translating complex information into clear, accessible and visually consistent communication materials across print and digital channels, often within tight timelines and high-volume production environments.
Selected work includes:
Case for Support documents
Designed and produced high-level philanthropic Case for Support publications contributing to campaigns that supported over $100 million in fundraising outcomes. These documents required careful information hierarchy, storytelling and alignment with donor communication strategy.
Inbound call centre training materials
Developed internal operational documentation to support staff onboarding and service consistency within student-facing support environments.
NGV Triennial event program
Designed printed event collateral supporting one of Australia’s major cultural exhibitions, balancing editorial layout, accessibility and visual hierarchy.
Student Impact Club branding
Created identity and branding materials for a student-led initiative, supporting engagement and visual consistency across communications.
Internal engagement materials
Designed team and staff-facing communications including posters and internal campaign materials to support university engagement initiatives.
CONTEXT AND IMPACE
This work required balancing multiple audiences including students, staff, alumni and donors, while maintaining alignment with university brand systems and ensuring consistency across large-scale communication outputs.
It also involved working within established brand frameworks while adapting materials across diverse channels including print publications, internal communications and event environments.
Deakin University
Research report design and data publication
This project involved the design and layout of a 112-page research report for Deakin University titled The Roles of Women in Supporting and Opposing Violent Extremism.
The report presented complex academic research, data tables and analytical findings requiring careful information design to ensure clarity, accessibility and readability for both academic and policy audiences.
As the designer, I was responsible for translating dense research content into a structured, visually coherent publication that supported comprehension across long-form reading and data-heavy sections.
The design approach focused on clear information hierarchy, consistent formatting and careful integration of tables, graphs and research findings within a cohesive publication system.
Key elements of the work included:
Long-form report layout and publication design (112 pages)
Data presentation including tables, charts and research outputs
Information hierarchy and typographic systems for academic readability
Integration of complex research content into accessible design formats
Preparation of print-ready publication files
The final report supported Deakin University in communicating sensitive and complex research findings to academic, policy and stakeholder audiences.
Annual report design and publication layout
This project involved the design and production of the 2019 Annual Report for Drama Victoria, a not-for-profit organisation supporting drama education across Victoria.
The work formed part of a broader creative production process, with design execution delivered in collaboration with existing creative direction. My focus was on layout, typographic structure and publication design, ensuring the report was clearly structured, accessible and consistent across a multi-section document.
The publication brought together organisational updates, program outcomes and stakeholder reporting, requiring careful attention to information hierarchy and long-form readability.
Key aspects of the work included:
Annual report layout and publication design
Application of existing art direction across page design
Information hierarchy and typographic systems for long-form content
Integration of text, imagery and data within structured layouts
Preparation of print-ready files for production
The final report provided Drama Victoria with a clear and professional annual publication to communicate its activities and impact to members, educators and funding stakeholders.
